The 5th Annual Brother Small Business Survey indicates that 72% of small business owners would rather adopt new technology than hire new employees. This isn’t entirely surprising–employees represent a big expense and a big risk, and they come with a lot of uncertainty, regulations, and paperwork.
But that doesn’t mean that new technology is not without its own problems and challenges. The survey also indicates that SMBs are typically quite overwhelmed with all of the available technology choices and are struggling to keep up.
“Our survey shows that while small business owners understand the value of new technologies, they are still a bit overwhelmed and struggle with choosing the right time to adopt them to have the greatest impact on their business,” said John Wandishin, Brother Vice President of
Marketing.
Resolving this problem can be a simple matter of calling in technology experts. For example, our shared technology teams make an effort to get to know your business so that we can make smart recommendations about which technologies will actually help you become more competitive. We also provide tech support so that you don’t have to spend a lot of time struggling to get things set up and working. This helps you stay as up-to-date as you need to be. And you get all of the benefits of a full IT team without hiring employees, which is good news for SMBs who are trying to avoid a heavy payroll burden.
